July Meeting - Annual Picnic in the Park!

July 02 2010 by Nick Kwiatkowski

On Thursday July 8th, we will be having our annual Picnic and BBQ with the Mid-Michigan ColdFusion Users Group.  We will be meeting at around 6:30pm at Patriarche Park in East Lansing, with food near 7pm.  Bring your family and friends and meet interesting people from the community.  Hotdogs, hamburgers and soda will be provided by the usergroup.

There will be no set topic for the evening.  If it is raining that evening, we will meet at Reno's East just down the road on Saginaw Highway.  Patriarche Park is located on the corner of Saginaw and Alton Roads in East Lansing.  Our reservation is on the east side of the baseball field (furthest away from Alton Road).

See you there!

CANCELED: June Meeting - Flex + Flash Builder + ColdFusion ORM = Quick Development

May 20 2010 by Nick Kwiatkowski

CANCELED DUE TO SICKNESS.  WILL BE RESCHEDULED.  During our June meeting on June 10th at 7pm we will be doing a meeting that will show a complete application being built.  During the spring of 2010 Nick was tasked with creating an application for the MSU Bike Shop to track their bike rentals.  They were looking to be more organized than a few printed sheets and an Excel spreadsheet, so an AIR application built with the Flex 4 SDK was proposed as the solution.

We will be showing the complete workflow that was used in creating this application, including customer interviews, prototyping, creating the server code (ColdFusion ORM using Hibernate), and building the client code with Flex 4 on top of AIR 1.5.3 and Flash Builder 4.

This meeting will be broadcast live, so if you want to join us online, then feel free!  The live meeting will be held in or near room 161 in the Communications Arts and Sciences Building on the campus of Michigan State University.

May Meeting - Migrating from Flex 3 to Flex 4

May 10 2010 by Nick Kwiatkowski

So now Flex 4 SDK is out and frankly, it's very, very different from the version 3 SDK that we were all used to.  Learn about the differences between the SDKs and when it is a good time to port your applications to SDK 4.  We will also cover the basics of the Spark architeture and how to use it.

Bring your laptop and follow along with our samples!  We will be building a few small applications from scratch.

We will be meeting at 7pm on May 13th in or near room 161 in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building on the Campus of Michigan State University.

This meeting will be recorded, but not broadcast live.
